Fairtrade Fortnight is here

Fairtrade Fortnight will be back Monday 24 February – Sunday 8 March 2020; with the focus this year on cocoa. For two weeks each year, thousands of individuals, companies and groups across the UK come together to share the stories of the people who grow our food and drinks and who grow the cotton in our clothes, people who are often exploited and underpaid. Run by the Fairtrade Foundation, Fairtrade Fortnight highlights the mission of Fairtrade – is to ensure that all farmers are paid fairly for their work and are able to earn a living income.

There are a host of events and activities coming up at Green Templeton and across Oxford for the fortnight. Here at college we have a free Fairtrade Wine and Cheese night 18:30-20:30 on Tuesday 03 March in the Dining room (Sign up through EPOS) as well as a Fairtrade Raffle, with tickets available from the lodge. Money raised will be donated to help Women Cocoa Farmers earn a living.

Elsewhere across Oxford there is also a Fairtrade Business Breakfast, a student Fairtrade Bake Off, talks on Climate Resilience, female empowerment and more, so keep a look out!
